I bought a toilet

I hate my toilet.  With a passion.  It's old, uses a ton of water and is just a pain in the neck.  Last year the plumber came and replaced the whole inside stuff.  The past couple of months, the flapper has been sticking so that sometimes it closes and sometimes it doesn't.  I need to wait after flushing to hear the "thunk" of the flapper being closed.  If it doesn't I jiggle the handle.

Yesterday was the last straw. I've been doing a little research and finally decided it was time.  I woke up yesterday with a splitting headache and nausea so stayed home sick.  I thought some fresh air might do me some good so I headed out  to Bethesda, to Union Hardware.

Within 30 min, a new toilet was bought.  This one.  Toto Drake,  1.28 gal.

The tank needs to be ordered and will be here in a couple of weeks.

It's not the composting toilet but close enough.

  1. We preserve (mostly freeze and pickle) not so much to save money (I'm not convinced it doesn't - but I haven't crunched the numbers) but because then we know what's in - or more importantly - isn't in our food. And because our own food - even in winter - tastes so much better than store bought.
